Logistic Assistant

Capacity Building Initiative Project would welcome applications from qualified candidates for the following vacancy. Applications from women candidates are encouraged. Key Responsibilities

The Logistics Officer is responsible for:

* Efficient functioning of Local Resource Centre at central and regional level training logistics
* Procurement of training material and provision of catering service to training resource and participants
* Assist to Training Administrator


Tasks/duties

* Ensure efficient operation of training centre including bookings, organizing workshop/training materials, audio-visual equipment, catering and maintaining centre in a clean and tidy state
* Assist in the facilitation of the logistics for Training courses and workshops.
* Assist in the preparation of training materials
* Arrange and organized travel, accommodation and catering for resource persons as well as participants for regional training/workshops.
* Assist in arranging and preparation of facilities for NGO meetings.

Description of Duties:

Under supervision of the Senior Field Coordinator, the National UNV will be responsible for:

* Promoting a community development approach in the work of UNHCR and its partners
* Facilitating and undertaking regular participatory assessments with villagers or groups of villagers using a gender and age perspective to better understand the communities affected by population movement, their concerns and priorities and the resources available to them
* Improving community participation by mobilizing communities to define and prioritize solutions to their problems, including those of individuals and groups with specific needs, during all phases of programming, with specific measures to involve women and children
* Mainstreaming gender equality and child rights – including developing and implementing projects designed to address long-term needs of women and children in communities affected by population movement
* Coordinating efforts with all stakeholders in the early identification, prevention and response to SGBV and follow up with survivors
* Ensuring that the concerns of girls, boys, women and men are identified and addressed in a timely and effective manner

* Liaising with implementing partners and the communities to develop specific activities to address the social, psychological, cultural, health, organizational and livelihood concerns of communities affected by population movement, and motivate and support community initiatives in these areas
* Communicating and coordinating information flow between local communities and UNHCR to inform ongoing activities.
* Assist in efforts to strengthen organizational capacities of CBOs and NGOs through such activities as needs-analysis, management, and leadership training.
* Teaching and transferring valuable learning experiences to the communities through educational activities and by example.
* Enhancing reconciliation by bringing local knowledge and cultural understanding, coupled with specific experience and qualifications, to ongoing activities.
* Perform any other duties as required


Qualifications/Requirements:

* Degree in social science
* Proven experience in working with rural communities in community-focused initiatives and grassroots work
* Previous experience in humanitarian work
* Good interpersonal and drafting skills
* Team spirit
* Cultural sensitivity
* Ability to adapt to different social and cultural circumstances, including modest living conditions in remote areas

Computer skills: Microsoft Word and Excel

Language skills: English (fluent spoken and written) and Kayin and/or Mon language


Promotion of Volunteerism:

* As a UN volunteer, familiarize himself/herself with the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV publications and taking active part in UNV activities.
* Network with local voluntary organization(s) and build relations.
* Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.
